Books

A pile of books on my living room table. 5D, 70-200mm f/4 lens, f/4, 0.6 sec, iso 200. Some of you have already noticed my new toy, which was a surprise birthday present from my husband. I've been shooting with the 5D for 2 weeks now, and am loving it more and more each day. It may be my imagination--I haven't done direct comparison tests between it and Mike's 20D or my old 300D--but my impression is that the 5D renders color in a very beautiful, natural way. I also like how the full frame sensor now allows a more narrow DOF. There is just something really pleasing to me about the look that it produces.

Wow a 5D, what a perfect birthday present! I was just reading about this camera the other day, and it seems to be a neat one. Good Luck with your new friend ;).

Congrats on the new camera! I'm a nikon person myself, but I defintiely like the idea of a ff sensor... millions of Canon users can't be wrong. Neat shot and great illustration of what you can do with it.

Congratulations! I think you're right about the color being more natural. A lot of digital cameras use the more restrictive sRGB color space and process images to make colors more vivid and bright. SLRs seem to use wider color spaces (Adobe RGB), and allow you to chose the color space, so the colors are more muted and true to life.

Ouch.. That really puts in another nail in my 5D vs 1DmkII N debate. Sigh. Which one to choose? Maybe I'll just buy a 10-20 for my 20D instead!

Wow, you're quite the lucky one. I just got the 350D and am loving it, but would love to have someone buy me the 5D - is your husband a giving individual? ;)
