Purple Flames

Canon 70-200mm, f/4. The lotus was in the middle of a pond and my lens wasn't long enough to fill the frame with the flower like I wanted to, so this is a crop of the original image.

I think you found the right balance in this crop, between the space occupied by the flower and the smooth background.
