Union Station

Union Station

Last week, I went to D.C. to meet up with a friend from high school who was visiting the area. Even though I was a little late getting to our meeting, I couldn't help but to stop and fire off a few shots at Union Station as I was passing through. As I was taking this photo, I heard some guy passing me exclaim, "What the $#% are you taking a picture of?" A year ago, such a comment would've really embarassed me, but at this point I've gotten so used to taking photos in odd places that I no longer mind. I have the feeling that many better compositions can be made of the pretty, patterned ceiling than my centered approach. Maybe next time.

It might be interesting to put the ceiling across a diagonal line. Anyway, I like it like it is.

I hate when people do that! Tragic that so many people will just blaze past something potentially beautiful on their way to work or whatever, ignorant of what they're missing. Anyway, cool shot.

Fantastic shots! You are a true student of the art. I'll be coming back frequently to see what you're up to. Cheers!

Hi, thinks for leaving that comment
Yep, I'd be more careful with extreme aperture next time.

I have got those looks of "what the $#! is this guy wasting his films on!!" look many times, and choose to ignore it.

Will frequent your blog from now on.

Pretty difficult to explain to people without an artistic eye what you're looking at. It's a blessing and a curse for you, since you obviously have a eye for this. :)

I which I can take photographs of buildings as you do... I think you got the right composition here, with the two arches ) the rail and the dome) one in the opposite direction of the other.

I love patterns and details, which you tend to include in all your architecture shots. Great stuff. Never mind the plebs :)

Lovely lines of simplicity here - and a spot-on framing to boot!
Funny, it looks good enough to eat...
