A huge thanks to whoever nominated this blog for the Photobloggies "Best Abstract Photography" category. It really made my day to make the finalist round, and I feel quite honored just to see this blog listed with the likes of Deceptive Media and Vitrine en Illumina. If you're into photography, please take the time to check out the nominees and vote.

congratulations on your nomination at the photobloggies. it's great company with you and deceptivemedia in the abstract category-two of my favorite sites. as for this photo, one of the coolest images i've ever seen! i love the white and grey with the bold dark outlines. great reflective patterns within these "liquid glass jewels" giving you that "i'm floating" feeling. amazing.

Wow. Nothing new to add to what others have said, but I just felt like I couldn't like such a deserving post go by without *some* comment.

Congratulations, very well deserved - great photo, I'm assuming it's a glass with drops of water and a sea shell placed underneath - nice effect. It's nice to see you and Derek nominated, both of you great abstract photoblogers.

In response to Andy's question, I should explain that these are drops of water on top of a rain-x treated mirror. I folded tracing paper into an accordian shape and placed it perpendicular to the mirror with a light source behind it. The lines in the water are a combo of reflections and refractions.

This is wonderful! I like the composition and how it isn't "dead square" if you know what I mean. Pierre, I don't think it's B&W, is it?

That's really great. Very abstract and repetitive yet interesting. I read your explanation of this shot as well; how inventive.
