Beautiful. The framing is perfect and the colors are lovely.

Are these your chopsticks?

Yeah, these are my chopsticks. They were a gift, and I love them, but they're so pretty I don't want to use them!

Very cool :)

they really are pretty, f22 was a great choice, I think I tend to stick my lens wide open without remembering there's another way!

Nice minimal composition, and I agree with miles f22 was the perfect choice here.

Very nice composition. I think I would have liked it completely straight though. The right side is a little higher than the left.

excellent. i dont think i would use them either other than how you did-photograph 'em. the colors are beautiful-they're not saturated at all but still capture you. great lighting and exposure made this possible.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. Also, I've now cropped and tilted it slightly to fix the level difference that Andy pointed out.

It feels serene and playful. The colors are beautiful.

yup. i agree with miles. i would have probably messed this shot up by going for a more open lens for more DoF. This works. Such nice colours. And yea, I'd be wary to eat with those chops too! So nice! :-)

Gorgeous! The colors are stunning and you captured great detail in the fabric.

Wonderful shot =) Lovely colors

Wonderful shot. I don't think it could be improved on. well done.

I agree with miles as well, good call on the f/22. Most of these macro type shots have a very thin dof. anyway, love the shot! the colors are very nice =)

I always have that problem with fancy chopsticks/utensils also. Well, at least you put them to good use!

Posted by: karenology at January 13, 2005 11:48 PM

Just curious, did you try a shot with greater DOF?

Posted by: Russ Morris at January 14, 2005 3:40 PM

The colors and the textures are what make this photo to work. I like the result, but I agree with the previous post suggesting a greater DOF, as with this perspective you probably want to see the texture in the whole image.

My comment will simply echo what others' have said - you have created something special in these images. You have a wonderful sense of color and texture, and how they interact. Beautifully rendered.

Everything--composition, color, pattern, lighting and focus --are sublime here. Very well done.
